Excellent condition overall. Very little age-related darkening is present. The lines remain crisp, the colors vivid, and there is no insect damage.

This Edo-period ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige is from the series Sugata Hakkei (姿八景, “Eight Views of Beauties”), produced circa 1825–1835.

The series reflects the influence of the traditional “Eight Views” theme in Japanese art, reinterpreted through elegant depictions of women rather than landscapes. Hiroshige combines refined figure design with atmospheric composition, demonstrating the stylistic sensitivity that would later make him one of the most celebrated ukiyo-e artists of the Edo period.

Printed using traditional nishiki-e woodblock techniques, the work retains exceptional clarity and color preservation, highlighting the quality of both the original printing and its long-term care.

A remarkably well-preserved example of early Hiroshige bijin-ga, suitable for collectors of ukiyo-e, Edo-period art, and Japanese beauty prints.
