Good antique condition overall. The print retains sharp printed lines and well-preserved colors for its age, making it an attractive example of Eisen's mature bijin-ga. It displays beautifully and preserves the delicate details characteristic of late Edo woodblock printing.

This original late Edo-period woodblock print was created circa 1830–1835 by Keisai Eisen (1790–1848), signed Eisen ga (英泉画).

The print belongs to Eisen's documented series Gorishō Musubu no Ennichi (御利生結ぶの縁日, "Auspicious Festival Days for Good Fortune"), published by Tsutaya Jūzaburō. The series celebrates famous temple festival days (ennichi) throughout Edo, pairing fashionable women with well-known neighborhoods and their associated temples and shrines.

This sheet is titled Shiba Kanasugichō (芝金杉町), identifying the lively merchant district near Zōjō-ji. The scene portrays an elegant woman relaxing beneath a mosquito net (kaya) after bathing. Beside her are a wash basin, towel, and an uchiwa fan inscribed with a kyōka poem, creating an intimate glimpse into everyday life during a warm Edo summer evening.

Rather than depicting famous courtesans or theatrical scenes, Eisen specialized in refined moments of private life. The mosquito net, damp towel, and bathing accessories evoke the quiet comfort of home, while the beautifully patterned kimono and graceful pose reflect the fashionable tastes of the late Edo period.

Eisen was one of the foremost bijin-ga artists of the nineteenth century and one of the principal rivals of Utagawa Kunisada. His prints are admired for their elegant, elongated figures, atmospheric settings, and sensitive portrayal of feminine beauty, making them among the finest examples of Edo-period beauty prints.

A charming example of Eisen's mature work, combining seasonal imagery, literary elegance, and the refined domestic atmosphere that defines the best bijin-ga of the late Edo period. Suitable for collectors of Japanese woodblock prints, Edo-period art, and classical bijin-ga.
