1894 Meiji Era War Propaganda Print Oguni Masakazu "Pyongyang Japan’s Great Victory 平壌大捷之図" (Approx. 71 x 36 cm)
Good condition with no insect holes or stains. The paper shows uniform age-related darkening, and there is very minor edge wear to the sheets. Overall, the print remains well-preserved and visually strong.
This large-format triptych ukiyo-e woodblock print by Oguni Masakazu, published in 1894 (Meiji 27), depicts the scene “Pyongyang, Japan’s Great Victory” (平壌大捷之図). Issued by Kumajiro Fukuda, the work reflects wartime propaganda imagery from the First Sino-Japanese War.
The composition captures the intensity and scale of battle, presenting Japanese military success with dramatic detail and energy typical of late 19th-century war prints. As a triptych, the three panels combine to form a wide, continuous scene, enhancing the sense of movement and spectacle.
Printed using traditional woodblock techniques and now joined as a single piece (approximately 71 x 36 cm), this work represents an important example of Meiji-era political and historical imagery. Suitable for collectors of Japanese prints, military history, and Meiji-period art.
