Good condition overall with vivid colors and sharp lines. There is slight friction wear along the edges and very minor insect damage, only noticeable upon close inspection. Some creasing from long-term storage is present but can be minimized when framed.

This 1895 (Meiji 28) ukiyo-e woodblock print by Toyohara Chikanobu depicts a significant diplomatic moment during the First Sino-Japanese War. Titled Hiroshima Daihonei Kaiken no Zu (廣島大本営ニ於テ清国使臣李鴻章及び李経方会見之図), the scene portrays the meeting of Qing envoys, including Li Hongzhang, at the Hiroshima Imperial Headquarters.

Rendered as a single-sheet composition, the print captures a formal and historically important encounter, reflecting Japan’s growing international presence during the Meiji period. Chikanobu’s detailed linework and use of color bring clarity and structure to the scene, emphasizing both the figures and the setting.

A well-preserved and historically meaningful example of Meiji-era political imagery, suitable for collectors of Japanese prints, diplomatic history, and First Sino-Japanese War material.
