Original Japanese B5-size movie flyer for the 1956 giant monster film Rodan (空の大怪獣 ラドン / Sora no Daikaijū Radon), produced by Toho.

Directed by Ishirō Honda with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya, this film represents a major milestone as Toho’s first color kaiju production following the success of Godzilla (1954).

The story begins with mysterious deaths in a mining region, ultimately revealing the emergence of massive prehistoric flying creatures—Rodans—whose supersonic speed generates devastating shockwaves. The film builds to large-scale destruction, including the leveling of Fukuoka, showcasing Toho’s expanding ambition in visual effects filmmaking.

The cast includes Kenji Sahara and Yumi Shirakawa. The film is particularly noted for its advanced high-speed miniature photography, effectively conveying the force of sonic booms and aerial destruction.

Also featured are the Meganulon, giant prehistoric insect larvae that appear in the early part of the film and later became part of the broader Toho kaiju universe.

Presented in a new B5 frame, this original flyer is ready for display and represents an important piece of early color kaiju cinema history. A strong collectible for fans of Toho, monster films, and vintage Japanese movie memorabilia.
