Directed by Ishirō Honda, best known for creating Godzilla, with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya, a pioneer of tokusatsu and co-creator of Ultraman. The film stars Yoshio Tsuchiya, Kaoru Yachigusa, and Tatsuya Mihashi.
The story follows a librarian transformed into a gaseous being after a scientific experiment goes wrong. Using his powers, he commits a series of bank robberies to support the career of his lover, a traditional dancer, while evading a determined police detective. The film blends science fiction, noir, and tragic romance, making it one of the more unique entries in Toho’s special effects catalog.
This flyer represents the third and final installment in Toho’s “Transforming Human” trilogy, following The H-Man (1958) and The Secret of the Telegian (1960). It is a strong example of mid-20th century Japanese film advertising and tokusatsu history.
